        "abstract": "<p>Caltech Library has repositioned our institutional repository CaltechAUTHORS as a critical data resource about publications for both the Library and campus researchers. Earlier this year the US federal government implemented a requirement for immediate-upon-publication public access of all government-funded publications. This represented a dramatic change from prior embargo allowances. In most cases, researchers were required to pay open access fees to be compliant, and many either were not aware of the changes or did not have allocated funding for the fees. This led to the Caltech Library negotiating new Transformative / Read &amp; Publish agreements with publishers of chemical literature. This talk will describe the collaborative data analysis on publications that was done and presented to administration to secure permission (and in one case additional funding) to move forward with these agreements. This analysis showed there would be a significant savings to researchers that would more than offset the increased cost of the agreements. We will discuss the implementation of these agreements, including the use of targeted informational handouts. In addition, federal funders are increasingly requiring collaborator or conflict of interest disclosure forms which are time consuming and challenging for researchers or support staff to create. We can utilize the publication data and persistent identifiers such as ORCID and ROR to automatically generate a first draft of collaborator reports for funders such as the National Science Foundation. We&rsquo;ll discuss how we rolled this service out to the campus community and how it has been received. Both the publication analysis and the collaborator reports are made possible by the use of the highly-curated CaltechAUTHORS institutional repository.</p>",
